DERMAPLANING
Dermaplaning is a method of physical exfoliation utilizing a sterile, surgical scalpel to gently remove the dead cells from the outermost layer of skin known as the Stratum Corneum. This helps to stimulate cellular turnover with little to no downtime. Dermaplaning also helps to remove the vellus hair known as “peach fuzz.” Removing any vellus hair from the face makes the skin instantly appear smoother, brighter and more radiant!
Dermaplaning is typically performed at the start of our treatments, as removing any dead skin and peach fuzz also allows for a much deeper penetration of products.
This treatment has no downtime. The benefits will generally last a month, and do not require any maintenance.
Professional dermaplaning is not the same as at-home shaving. While at home devices can be really effective at removing the hair, professional treatments are much more effective at removing dead skin cells.
Your hair will not grow back darker or thicker. Dermaplaning is a form of DEPILATION. When the hair is taken from the surface (not the root) it has zero effect on how it grows from the follicle. Just the same way a haircut doesn’t make the hair on your head grow thicker. It may feel thicker at the ends, because it essentially got a blunt cut!
This service is typically contraindicated for clients with active, pustular acne and clients with hirsutism.
